Council Application

 

Thank you for your interest in membership to the Ohio Governor’s Council on People with Disabilities (GCPD).  Following is an outline of the procedures and criteria, along with an application form. 

Instructions:

  1. Complete the application form.
  1. Provide the following support materials:
    • Governor Strickland’s Board and Commission form.
    • Two (2) letters of recommendation.
    • Resume or bio (not to exceed one-page).
  1. Mail, fax, or send an electronic copy of the application and support documents to the Ohio Governor’s Council on People with disabilities. 
  2. Materials must be completed and returned to the Council office by Friday, April 10th, 2009
  3. Governor Ted Strickland will appoint seven (7) members to the Council for a term beginning September 1st.  Each year seven (7) positions are appointed.  Members may apply for a second term, but are limited to two (2) terms.  The length of a term is three (3) years.
  4. Applicants must be able to attend both their assigned committee meeting on Tuesday and full council on Wednesday meetings.  More than fifteen (15) minutes of absenteeism will be considered a missed meeting.  More than two missed meetings can result in termination of appointment.
  5. Occasionally there is an unexpected vacancy in the GCPD membership.  When this occurs the Governor appoints an individual to complete the term of the vacancy.
