Greater Cleveland Area High School/High Tech

In 2005, Linking Employment, Abilities and Potential (LEAP), a Center for Independent Living, assumed responsibility for the operation of High School/High Tech in the Cleveland area. October 2005 marked the launching of the program with a kick-off celebration hosted by NASA Glenn Research Center.

For 25 years LEAP has been pursuing its mission to empower individuals with disabilities in making significant life choices and changes to enhance their employment and independent living opportunities. For more than ten years LEAP has operated Job Link, an award winning youth development and employment program. High School/High Tech (HS/HT) provides LEAP the opportunity to expand service delivery to high school students with disabilities in the greater Cleveland area.

HS/HT students will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of career related activities, including workforce site visits, college tours, skill based learning activities, resume workshops, panel discussions on careers and work readiness, job shadowing experiences, and summer internships. The Program Coordinator, Dianne Cingel, is developing relationships with area businesses, technology facilities, training programs and post-secondary institutions as partners to provide these opportunities and many more for future programming.

The current HS/HT students’ interests are very diverse; ranging from prosthetic technologies to graphic design.  Dianne looks forward to the challenge of providing experiences that will address and foster the interests and goals of our future leaders in the technology workforce.
